Setting up TV with VPN

If you are using a Humax satellite system in Europe, it is possible using the STREAMVIA VPN to connect to BBC iPlayer so that it can be viewed direct to your TV. More details here

You will need a Linksys WRT54G to make the connection.

To start you must make sure the Linksys router is set to factory defaults. To do this, plug in the power cable and press the reset button on the rear for 30 seconds, keep the reset button held in and remove power cable after 30 seconds still holding the reset button in reconnect the power cable and wait another 30 seconds.
Connect a network cable to the Linksys and your computer. Open the Firefox or Chrome browser and type in the address http://192.168.1.1 You will be prompted to enter a new password.
You then must select the following screens and enter the data as shown, remember to save the settings on each window:

Unless you wish to connect other computers wirelessly, in the Wireless setting select 'Disable'. This is a security measure that will stop unauthorised access.

Last step is to go to the 'Administration' tab and do a reboot.

The following diagram shows how the final connections are made.

NB You might have to reboot your broadband router to enable the VPN connection.

Hello I would like o ask if this will also help setting up the VPN in the UAE?

If there is any otgher way please let me know, cos I would really like to use the apple tv

It shold work anywhere in the world as it changes your IP address to say a UK's one if you wanted to view a UK TV broadcast.

Thanks for posting this. Searched the net on how to set up a virtual proxy router using the linksys wrt54gl for the BBC iplayer (I live in Germany) and this was by far the most useful site. Following all the instructions given here I had everything up and working without any headaches. Thanks again.
