Benalmadena and Torremolinos are two popular coastal holiday resorts, situated in the Costa del Sol, along the Mediterranean coastline.
Benalmadena is close to the regional capital city of Malaga in Andalusia. Here there is a population of around 50,000 in a space of 30 square kilometres, and is greatly increased with the influx of tourists throughout the year. From the high peak of Cerro del Morro which is 1,000 metres high, the view stretches across the Mediterranean as far as the North African coast and over to Gibraltar. Golf is a popular sport here, with plenty of golf courses in the area to choose from. In fact, it is a great location for all year round golf, because of the mild and sunny winter climate. Other attractions here include museums, aquariums and theme parks. Puerto Marina has 1000 landing stages, and here you will find an award winning showcase of accommodation, entertainment and sport and leisure. The Costa del Sol boasts 300 sunny days a year, making the area the perfect place for a beach holiday. Further inland, the beautiful Monte Calamorro mountain range offers some spectacular scenery and great walking territory. Malaga Airport is only 20 minutes drive away. Sailing boats can be chartered for a few days from the marina, with large berths, crew and catering staff if required, or alternatively, you can hire a speed boat for the morning and explore the coastline. The lovely beaches in Benalmadena include Playa La Perla, Las Yucas, Bil Bil and Santa Ana. The Castillos Bil Bil and Colomares are worth a visit in Benalmadena, and a variety of public events are staged at the Civic Auditorium. Torremolinos is only 15 km from Malaga Airport and a short 5 minute drive away.. It has 60,000 inhabitants, and is well known as one of the most popular holiday resorts in Spain. It has a cosmopolitan atmosphere, attracting tourists from around the globe, with 6 km of soft golden sandy beaches. There are many excursions available from here, including visits to Malaga itself, or the holiday resort of Marbella. Ronda is an inland town built on the edge of a magnificent gorge, and makes a great day out, and complete change from the modernity of the coast. Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf, and Torremolinos is close to some excellent golfing facilities. There are some great water parks situated along the coast, and these make a great family day out. The lovely sandy beaches in Torremolinos include Playamar, El Retiro, La Carihuela, Los Alamos, El Canuelo and El Bajondillo.
Accommodation is plentiful in both Benalmedena and Torremolinos, with a great choice of studios, apartments, private villas with own pools, inland chalets a few miles from the coast, luxury hotels offering all inclusive deals or luxury extras such as beauty spas, saunas and gyms, and hostels for those holidaying on a budget. There is something here for all, with fabulous beaches, great night life, restaurants and bars, and the beautiful mountainous backdrop with its rural attractions. Getting to Malaga airport is easy, so you can also enjoy a cheap holiday in Fuengirola, which is a mere 25 km from Malaga itself.
Should we have violence, break in etc in the bar/restaurant what is the telephone number I ring or do I simply ring 112?
Thanks
